Benedict Andrews is an Australian writer and director based in Reykjavík. His work spans theatre, opera, and film, including the features Una (starring Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn) and Seberg (starring Kristen Stewart), which premiered at Telluride and Venice. Onstage he has created acclaimed productions for the Young Vic, Donmar Warehouse, STC, St Ann’s Warehouse, and the Schaubühne Berlin, collaborating with actors such as Cate Blanchett, Gillian Anderson, Nina Hoss, Adeel Akhtar, Vanessa Kirby, and Isabelle Huppert. His opera productions been staged at Dutch National Opera, English National Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, and Bayerische Staatsoper.
He is the author of the play collection Collected Plays and the poetry volume Lens Flare, winner of the Mary Gilmore Prize.
